Oxfordshire Sports Partnership

The Oxfordshire Sports Partnership is delighted to be part of the Community Games Project. Our aim for Community Games in Oxfordshire is:

"to use the games to bring people together to celebrate their own community and to increase participation in sport and physical activity"

The Community Games presents a unique opportunity for communities in Oxfordshire to adopt a more active lifestyle, through sport, physical activity and culture, by giving them the chance to organise a celebration of sporting and cultural activities. By taking part in a Community Games you can be part of the lasting legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Wallingford Sports Park are hosting a multi sport and activity day to help promote its resident sports clubs to the local community. Bring your family along to have a go at the variety of activities that will be on offer including Touch Rugby , Hockey (11 am - 12 pm), Zumba (1 - 2 pm), Pentanque (Boules), Skittles (11 am - 1 pm), Squash (11 am - 3 pm), Rowing and a Football tournament (11 am - 2 pm). The sports clubs will also be able to provide you with information about their club if you feel that you would like to know more after trying the taster sessions.

Bring the family along for an action packed afternoon of fun in Bury Knowle Park. With face painting, welly wanging, fairground rides, story telling, and a magic show all on offer the event promises to provide something for all ages. There will be clubs of all kinds each keen to show you what they have to offer and happy to let you try your hand at being just like your favourite sports person for the day!

Come along and enjoy a day of Tennis at this free family event organised by Henley Tennis Club! The main event is the Family Mini Tennis Tournament which involves doubles teams of parents and juniors (8-11 years) playing on our new dedicated mini Tennis court. The event is open to everyone and pre registration is encouraged. The marshalling of the tournament will be partly by sports students of the local Henley College who have also donated suplus sports equipment to the club.

The Oxford Bike Fest is a one-day cycling event on the 30th June 2013. It is all about promoting cycling as a means of transport, however we are hoping to go further by showing people that cycling is not just a means of getting from A to B, there are a huge number of ways in which you can have fun on your bike. We are really keen to show people the social side of cycling. We have a wide range of activities planned for the event. Some of which are: -Introduction to basic bike mechanics (how to fix punctures and keep your bike maintained). -Free bike check over from a trained mechanic.

A free, fun day of activities for 0-19 year olds and their families. Showcasing all the opportunities available locally in Banbury. Activities will include circus skills, water play, outdoor theatre, sports activities , face painting, den making, outdoor cookery, arts and crafts and music from the Radio Horton road show! The event will be opened by Lady saye and sele, patron of the Let's Play Disability Group and with a performance by the wonderful Under Construction theatre company.

The World Pooh Sticks Championships will take place at Day's Lock at Little Wittenham on Sunday 13th October. The registration tent opens at 11.00 for individual players and for the teams at 13.00. Teams should register in advance on the website http://www.pooh-sticks.com/ This is the 30th annual competition at Day's Lock so come along and join in the fun, whatever the weather. Nordic Walking taster sessions will run from 11.30 to 13.30 and the meeting point will be the teas and cakes stand outside the church, very close to the Pooh Sticks registration tent.
